Big River, New Grounds (Lime Hall)

Big River (Lime Hall)

This wasn't a planned trip, well the plan was to go April 24, 2022 but the world is celebrating Easter and it's going to be a long weekend. Charles called me last night asking if we could go tomorrow instead, so we decided to go today April 15 instead. I had made a link with someone who knew where the waterfall was a few days ago. He gave me a price per person, then made an instagram page with a different price blah blah. After researching the area last night, we decided to just drive down and ask questions. Let me just say I don't usually have a problem paying people for their time when they show me a waterfall. We drove the old road then took the back road to St. Ann's Bay. I had an idea of the community we were going to and once we were there we stopped and asked to be sure. We drove some more, then stopped when we saw a group of young people standing along the roadside to ask if we were close to the river. A young man by the name of Ramone told us that we passed the turn already and offered to show it to us. We turned around and followed his lead and in no time we were there. It was very easy to find, however having a 4 wheel drive made the journey easier once we turned off the main road. We parked at the end of the road and in less than two minutes we were in the river bed, with little to no effort. Hmm not something I'd pay what the person told me per person, if it is a large group. Simple, because the two minutes hike is a walk in the park..

Big River (Lime Hall)

I must say though, Big River exceeded my expectations. There is so much more to Big River than just that small cascade and crystal water showing in the photo above. However, now I know why I've never seen the real beauty of this river. The waterfall is huge and unique, however the track to this famous spot is actually at the top of the waterfall. Looking down was a sight to behold, one section of the waterfall fell and dropped into a natural infinity pool formed in the rock. God was definitely showing off when he made this waterfall. Sadly there was no easy way to the bottom but you know me well that wasn't gonna stop me from at least trying. I climb down halfway to the pool area. I observe the area keenly while being very careful not to fall over the edge.

Big River Falls (Lime Hall)

I wanted to climb down some more but I didn't know how and Ramone had no clue how to get down, he can’t even swim lol. I didn't want to go down and can't come back up lol. Next time I'll walk with a rope! Just like Marston Spring I'm definitely going to revisit. This place is really something special and I want to experience it all while getting some beautiful photos.  My camera battery was fully charged but I didn't want to risk it falling off the cliff so I didn't get any great photos cause my iPhone takes ugly photos lol. I tried my best to get good photos to document this beauty as best as possible though. This place was clean when it got popular and the rest of bloggers visited "Dem nuh dutty up Jamaica!!!" We ended up only spending about an hour before we left and headed for Stewart Mountain because Denine and Charles had never been there before. We compensated Ramone,  took him back to where we picked him up and headed for Ocho Rios to get lunch. I didn't have much of an appetite but that Curry Beef, rice and peas from a spot across from Turtle River Park hit the spot.
