Salto Del Tequendamita (Parador Turistico) Rio Negro (Retiro) Colombia, Medellin
Ya estoy de vueltah!!!
Hola amigos (amigas) I’m back, Happy new year.
I know I’ve been MIA but I promise to be consistent this year.
With that being said, come along with me for part of my day as we go waterfall hunting internationally.
Yes!!!
International waterfall story time. On November 2, 2023 my friend and I decided to drive 45 minutes from
Medellin to Retiro to see a waterfall which is suited on the Rio Negro river.
The waterfall is visible from the road and does
not require hiking. I was in a trance when I laid eyes on this
The water flew down the giant,
sun baked rocks like milk from heaven and ran away fast into a
Surrounded by tall, lush
green trees and soft beds of grass, makes it easy for an ideal
In no time I was in my bikini, breathing in the sweet flowers perfuming the air and humming the roar of water
droplets pattering against hard rock. The mist on dry skin felt great as I got closer to the cascade. I felt like a
kid at a candy store as I kicked off my sandals and started walking on the dirt to become one with nature. The
pebbles against the bottom of my feet created a tingling feeling in my body as I got closer to put my feet in the
water. I was stopped by my friend who went ahead of me to read a sign that was in Spanish. No swimming was
allowed if you get in the water there is a FINE!!! Bummer!
Okay no big deal I thought I’d get some photos and try to at least let the water touch my hands.
In the Middle of trying to get a proper photo, two old men came to where I was and I swear they were
taking photos of me SMH. Shortly afterwards one of the employees walked over and said to my friend
“Dile que se vuelva a poner la ropa.” Which means tell her to put her clothes back on.
Now you must be wondering how I ended up in this situation lol. After seeing the waterfall on a YouTube video I added it to my itinerary without doing proper research.
All I needed was the directions I thought to myself.
I had no idea that swimming wasn’t allowed and no bikinis. There were no signs saying no swim wear.
There was only one sign in Spanish. In my opinion they could've at least had a sign in English to accommodate tourists.
I did as I was told and I lost interest in the waterfall because what else was I to do? I came to swim. There is a restaurant on site and we decided that we were going to have lunch before we head back. We went into the restaurant to inquire and to check out their menu. The owner seemed confused; she was probably wondering if I was going to take my clothes off again. No, for real she acted rude. My friend also informed me that the lady was giving me dirty looks and we shouldn’t eat here, so we left. 10/10 for beauty but 0/10 for the no swim swear and no swimming rules, it's ghetto I do not recommend lol I'm joking go for a good time not a long time.
There is a parking lot and and an entry free that covers the cost of car if you drive there.
Next internationally waterfall a proper research will be done.
