Marston Spring, Spanish River (Mabess River) Portland

Image
Marston S Back in 2020 Kyle told me about a waterfall on the Spanish River, but couldn't find proper photos of it to show me so I added it to my list and moved on. In November of last year he found the photos and sent them to me; however, it was in Portland and I didn't want to go alone. My friends said it didn't look like much and they weren't interested in visiting it. Fast forward to two weeks ago they finally decided that they wanted to see it so we made plans for April 10th, 2022. Kyle sent me a pin and I was sure it'd work lol.  Fish Dunns Falls Once we got to Buff Bay we started using the pin and it took us to Buff Bay Valley. I love this side of Portland. It is filled with waterfalls and is home to a few of my favorites like Fish Dunn Falls and Cascade. Fish Dunn was our first stop, we asked the guy in charge of Fish Dunn if he knew of Mabess on the Spanish River, however he told us that we had to turn back cause what we were looking for isn't in that...

Swift River Falls (Big Spring) Portland (Warisha Spring / Warsaw)

Image
I am clueless as to the actual name of this waterfall or if it even has a name. The young man that gave me the tour said it's called Big Spring but I doubt that's the correct name. I recently found out about it, when one of my adventurer friends asked me if I knew it or have any information on how to find it. According to her the girl who posted it on Instagram refused to give info on it, claiming that she doesn't remember how to get there or have a contact for the person who gave her the tour. Few days later I insisted that we should go chase waterfalls and that was the target. I knew a community that Swift River flows through so on November 21, 2021 just a few days before my birthday we decided to search for it, like it was lost LMAO. We left Kingston earl-ish and headed for my favorite parish. Can you guess which one it is?... YES!!! It's PORTLANDDDDDDDD!!!! Upon reaching the community that I was assuming the waterfall would be, we saw a young man walking. We stopped...

Hidden Waterfalls in Gordon Town, St Andrew (Lion Falls)

Image
Un-official Lion Falls Tucked away between steep, narrow stratified rocks, non-uniformed resistance to erosion is a perfect stream, racing down in a series of entrancing cascades. I first saw photos on Kyle instagram page back in 2020. As you know from reading previous blogs such as Fish Dunn's and St. Peter's Waterfall that Kyle is a very good associate of mine, he is like my personal google maps lol yes that's how well he knows the off beaten path. This is mainly so because of the kind of business that he is in. He owns a motorcycle tours and rentals company that offers off the beaten path adventures. All my off-road motorbike riders, outside of Jamaica, Kyle is definitely the guy you should link to when you visit Jamaica! He is an amazing person, trust me. Even though we've never met in person he is always so helpful when I need info on any waterfalls. However when I enquired about this specific waterfall, he said that it was in a canyon and can't be access...

Orchid Falls Gordon Town, St. Andrew

Image
Orchid Falls  Don't underestimate St. Andrew, he has some of the most beautiful waterfalls. Today my journey took me back to Gordon Town for a repeated adventure. No, we're not heading back to Hope River.   Instead of turning left to go to Penfield , we turned right to Enfield Road and continued until we reached a small parking area. You have to park and walk for a couple minutes until you get to the river area. My first visit was back in the summer of 2019 when I went to an all you can eat seafood brunch. The river was low because of the drought at the time so you know what that means. Yes!! The waterfall was barely trickling, the drought had it dehydrated. Check out photos from my first visit here... https://www.instagram.com/p/B2UyBo2AcAX/ https://www.instagram.com/p/B2Uur3SgK4m/ Mermaid sighting   Fast forward to Wednesday February 23, 2022 my neighbor and I ventured to Pretty Close to see Orchid in all his glory because photos of him were going around on Instagram. ...

St. Peter's Waterfall St. Andrew

Image
St. Peter's Falls Waterfalls like this don't just stumbleupon. Especially in rural St. Andrew. If you're not living on this side of the island you'll definitely have no business up this side in the mountains. There are little to no public transportation in these areas, so the road is pretty much lonely. The drive is long and the roads are narrow if that doesn't get to you, then the potholes decorating the road will certainly do. What could've been a short trip took hours due to poor roads condition. Doesn't seem like the members of these community voted (Inside joke) SMH.. If you don't own a Jeep, Pickup or Tractor etc don't even attempt to take on this journey. Poor road conditions I am somewhat clueless to the actual name of this waterfall, my good friend Kyle from Instagram told me about it a few years back and even sent me the pin and advised me which direction to drive to get there because the roads were in very poor conditions. While driving ...
