Crescent Falls, Jacks River St Mary

July 5, 2020 after visiting a Blue Hole we decided to chase waterfalls in a community called Crescent located in St. Mary. Kyle had sent me a GPS location on how to find it. Man this day Charles and I went on a serious wild goose chase. When we got to the location on the GPS a sweet little old lady told us to park at the end of her property and hike down hill into the river. Now the way the property was set up I had no clue where the end of her property was, so I drove to where I thought she was talking and did as I was told. We walked along the road but there were no signs of a waterfall. 

July 5, 2020

We eventually decided to drive up the road, which was pretty lonely. Eventually we saw a pick up heading down the hill and decided to ask him. I showed him Kyle photo with the waterfall and he said he was friends with Kyle but that waterfall wasn't in that area. We still insisted on finding it, so we started asking again in a different community. They told us how to find a waterfall but when we found it, it was dry and it wasn't the one we were looking for but it appeared to be a nice spot. 

We drove back to where the little old lady's property was, parked and walked in the river until we went under a bridge and it would appear that we entered a different section of the area. Once we went under the bridge we got into a different river don't ask me how, because I don't know. The bridge wasn't a normal one; it had layers and was pretty hard to go under. Once we got under we walked in the river,  ended up on a farm and the farmers had no clue about a waterfall. We eventually ended up back on the main road and walked for about an hour.  We finally decided to take a taxi back to where we parked. Then BOOM!!! We were back to where we parked SMH we walked in a circle. 

Frustrated, hitching from the plants and dirty rocks in the river bed not to mention fed up, we decided to go home. Few blocks from where we parked was a Rum Bar. We stopped for a flask of rum because it had been a rough day for us. One mind told me to ask the young miss I saw standing at the bar, and guess what she knew exactly where it was and offered to show us. We gladly accepted and turned around. We drove over the bridge we walked under and parked about 3 minutes from there. We told the young lady what happened to us and she told us that it was more than one river that's why we got lost. The river bed was empty so I know for sure the falls weren't flowing but I needed to be sure it was the correct waterfall because I would come back in the rainy season. After about fifteen minutes there it was Crescent Falls. It was naked but I could still see all his beauty. By this time it was already getting late so we took some photos and left. Instead of hiking back down stream I decided to climb uphill back to the main and to my surprise it was the little old lady's property smh. I sure did miss understood which was her property from the neighboring house SMH. I took the young miss number cause I know for a fact I'll be back one day to capture Crescent in all his glory.


2022

August 4, 2022 a little over two years later I finally made it back to Crescent to see him in all his glory. He has grown quite popular over the last year. The journey this time around to the small community of Crescent seemed shorter. We parked at the little old lady’s property and headed for the river.  This time around I could see the waterfall from the road way, but I was sick to my stomach. People stand on the road and dispose of their garbage into the river above the waterfalls. I had this idea in my head that I would climb down the hill to reach the waterfall faster but I couldn’t because of the garbage, so we took the trail the young miss had carried us on my first visit. The hike into the river bed to the waterfall was actually shorter this time around too. To be honest I was very disappointed to see the state around this beauty. It was littered with garbage SMH Jamaica has a serious littering problem. Enjoy the photos… Also remember to support my blog via PayPal

Ya estoy de vueltah!!! Hola amigos (amigas) I’m back, Happy new year. I know I’ve been MIA but I promise to be consistent this year. On November 2, 2023 my friend and I decided to drive 45 minutes from Medellin to Retiro to see a waterfall which is suited on the Rio Negro river. Getting to the waterfall was pretty easy, thanks to Google Maps. The waterfall is visible from the road and does not require hiking.  I was in a trance when I laid eyes on this magnificent cascade. The water flew down the giant, sun baked  rocks like milk from heaven and ran away fast into a tiny but swift stream.  Surrounded by tall, lush green trees and soft beds of grass, makes it easy for an ideal picnic spot. La Rejoya, Rio Camu, Dominican Republic

Hola desde República Dominicana. Come along with me for a part of my day as I go waterfall hunting in another Spanish speaking country and all I know is basic Spanish that can not save my life if I run into problems. I am in Puerto Plata for a good time, not a long time, with a full itinerary. Waterfall hunting can be a wild goose chase and could be twice as hard in a Spanish speaking country. I was already off to a late start because we had to drive three and a half hours  from Santo Domingo the night before. And boy oh boy I thought driving in my home country was wild. When I visited Medellin I thought that country had to be the worst to drive in but I was so wrong. Swift River Falls (Big Spring) Portland (Warisha Spring / Warsaw)

I am clueless as to the actual name of this waterfall or if it even has a name. The young man that gave me the tour said it's called Big Spring but I doubt that's the correct name. I recently found out about it, when one of my adventurer friends asked me if I knew it or have any information on how to find it. According to her the girl who posted it on Instagram refused to give info on it, claiming that she doesn't remember how to get there or have a contact for the person who gave her the tour. Few days later I insisted that we should go chase waterfalls and that was the target. I knew a community that Swift River flows through so on November 21, 2021 just a few days before my birthday we decided to search for it, like it was lost LMAO.
